Ah, Fontaine! The Nation of Justice, a realm of shimmering waterways and grand architecture, introduced back in 2023's patch 4.0. Even now, in 2026, exploring its depths—both literally underwater and through its quests—remains a joy. You know, with so much of Fontaine dedicated to water, from underwater exploration to its many fountains, it feels almost wrong to see something water-related broken, doesn't it? That's exactly what I stumbled upon during one of my strolls: a sad, non-functional fountain. Thankfully, a little side quest called "The Fountain Flows Again" lets us fix it. It's not the most epic quest, but there's a simple satisfaction in restoring a piece of the city's beauty.

Finding the Broken Fountain

Now, where is this broken fountain you ask? It's not hidden in some secret cave, but right on the main path! Specifically, it's on the road connecting Marcotte Station and the Fountain of Lucine. I found it easiest to teleport to the Waypoint at Marcotte Station and just follow the road north. You'll pass a working fountain first—almost a tease—and soon after, you'll spot a small, dry pool. That's our target.

Alternatively, you can start from the Fountain of Lucine Waypoint and head back south toward the station. Once you find it, just step into the empty pool and interact with the central nozzle. A little prompt will appear, and just like that, the quest "The Fountain Flows Again" begins! Simple, right?

Starting the Quest and Meeting the Locals

Upon starting the quest, an NPC named Remaudiere immediately approached me. He chatted briefly about the fountain's sorry state and his own dreams of being a magician—a charming, if slightly random, Fontaine character. His real help was pointing me toward Edel, who was standing a bit further down the road toward the Fountain of Lucine.

Edel is the one with the actual plan. After a quick conversation where he explains the fountain's importance, he asks for your help. He then suggests you meet him in the Court of Fontaine to get the necessary materials. The quest log updates, and you're off to the city!

Gathering Materials with the Blacksmith

Your destination in the Court of Fontaine is the blacksmith station, run by Estelle. When you arrive, Edel is already there waiting. Talking to Estelle reveals the solution: she needs 3 Iron Chunks to recast the broken part of the fountain.

Now, Iron Chunks are perhaps the most common ore in all of Teyvat. If you've been exploring at all, your inventory is probably overflowing with them. But just in case you're brand new, here are some classic, reliable spots to find them:

  • All around Mondstadt's Whispering Woods and Stormbearer Mountains.

  • The cliffsides throughout Liyue, especially near Mt. Tianheng.

  • Practically any mountain wall in Fontaine itself!

I had plenty on hand, so I simply handed over the three chunks to Estelle.

Completing the Restoration

Once you give Estelle the Iron Chunks, the game takes over. There's no waiting around for her to finish crafting. Immediately, a short cutscene plays, and you are automatically teleported back to the fountain's location. It's a nice touch—you get to see the moment of restoration. The water starts flowing again, the fountain springs to life, and the quest concludes.

Your rewards for this good deed pop up on screen:

  • 21,500 Mora

  • 3 Hero's Wit

Is it a fortune? Not really. The Mora is handy for leveling up gear, and the Hero's Wit is always welcome for character EXP, but it's not going to make you rich. So why do it?

Why Complete This Quest?

Well, I think there are a few good reasons:

  1. Satisfaction & World-Building: There's a genuine feel-good factor in fixing something. It makes Fontaine feel more alive and responsive to your actions.

  2. Easy Exploration: The quest guides you along a main path, helping you familiarize yourself with the layout between Marcotte Station and the Fountain of Lucine.

  3. Quick Primogem Source (Indirectly): Completing it adds to your overall quest count, which can contribute to Adventure Rank progression and achievements.

  4. It's Simple and Fast! From start to finish, it takes maybe 5-10 minutes if you already have the ore.

So, while "The Fountain Flows Again" won't net you a 5-star weapon or reveal a hidden boss, it's a perfect example of the small, charming world interactions that make Genshin Impact's exploration so rewarding. Next time you're passing through Fontaine, take a moment to fix that fountain. The gentle sound of flowing water as you pass by afterwards is its own little reward. After all, what's the Nation of Justice without a little justice for its broken fountains?
